The other Niven book being referred to is Bring on the Empty Horses. Good reads. I liked Clive James Unreliable Memoirs but he is not everyone's cup of tea.

Re: Autobiographies
Some that I've read recently;

Keith Richards - Life (really good)
Neil Young - Shakey (ok)
Mötley Crüe - The Dirt (exceptional)
Marilyn Manson - The Long Hard Road out of Hell (good)
Agent Zigzag: A True Story of Nazi Espionage, Love, and Betrayal - (really good, but I know it's not really a biography)

Just started reading Duff McKagan - It's So Easy (and other lies). Pretty good stuff so far.

If you like old movie stars,The Moons a Balloon (David Niven) and My Wicked, Wicked Ways (Errol Flynn) are both brilliant.

Be careful What You Wish For - By Simon Jordan. Not the bland tosh you get from the likes of Keegan/Dalgliesh etc. No secrets kept in the dressing room on this one.

Re: Autobiographies
Almost all Autobiographies are ghost written.

A very good one which wasn't ghost written is 80 Not Out by Patrick Moore
